For Women Only: What You Need to Know About the Inner Lives of Men

It is Thursday today...

On Wednesday evening of this week, I was talking with a friend about how I want to be more available to my husband, but I really do not understand what his life is about, what he seeks and needs in a wife.

How can I give what I am not asked for?

Then Shaunti Feldhahn's book "For Women Only: What You Need to Know About the Inner Lives of Men" jumped out as one of the books I have.

On Monday morning of this week, I had told another friend about a book I was reading about was such a help to live in the present moment and find joy there (as opposed to allowing worry for the future or regret for the past to crowd out my awareness of the present moment). She  seemed interested in the book, so I mentioned I could write about some of my takeaways from the book.

She encouraged me to do that, and so came about the seed for Blog-a-book.

A seed is small, and so I begin with a small insight from Shaunti's book. She had wanted dialogue for her fiction book to be authentic and went to interview a man about what a man would say in the book's scenario she had written. In getting the male response, she was so surprised, she began to ask other men to see if it was a typical male response or not. It was. So, she proceeded to invest in explaining some of these revelations to women in general.

Ready?

For one.

It is built into healthy men to provide. It is a burden and a gift. When we realize as wives, as support, that our attitude toward them when they are away providing is crucial to their well-being, we can both show appreciation and realize that is their key way of saying they love us and the family.

I was looking at the time I just didn't have around him. At times, my husband has worked from home.

I am ever-so grateful that work has been a proactive way he cares for us. I can show gratitude for how much he does to accomplish that and how burdensome it is when one is not be appreciated at work.

Thanks, Shaunti.
